Our goal for this year is to design a UAV to compete at the BMFA Quantity Challenge
With access to both our own workshop and various facilities at the TU Delft we can make use of advanced production techniques to get our design built.
In June, we will fly the UAV at the BMFA competition in the UK while competing against various international teams from renowned universities around the world.
Have a look at our finished carbon-fibre spars!
Getting here was not an easy ride: countless hours were invested in perfecting our wooden moulds, followed by carefully laying-up carbon fibres and curing for a whole day.
Many challenges arise when transforming ideas from paper to reality. For example, the fibres in the spars were falling apart in thin regions. Putting on our problem-solving engineering hats, we decided to use good ol' tape that resolved the issue.
With our spars done, we're looking forward to assemble our wing soon! ... See more
